Up-date for April 2014

Post Saba-kon (booth 3 - the dealer with the hand painted pocket watches (and/or with charms), hand made hair sticks and dice necklaces)... Had a great time in Vegas! Thanks to everyone who stopped by (who saw me at ALV) and said hewwo. Thanks to all the new people I met as well.

Saw a vendor/artist I met at Saboten, was unable to catch up with him, hope to see him at another con real soon! I'll give you a link to his site as soon as I find his card again.

Met a great decal artist/dealer. You guys should check out 5BuckDecal.com he has some great deals on decals and I hope to be talking with him real soon on getting something done for my van. On an old car of mine I had a yellow snake. I'm thinking of a Tardis on one side and something anime~ish on the other, but I'm not sure what. I have a grey van and need a single colored decal, if any of you have suggestions I'm all ears! I will let you know what I decide soon and throw up pics once I get it done. I hope to have it up before AX.

Kath went with me to this con, we stayed on site in a nice suite. Someone tried to steal one of the breakers from the house we normally stay at in Vegas. There was no electricity the entire weekend there. After the con was over we went up and clean out the fridge and freezer.

I'll be at Akon, June 6-8th, for the first time this year. If you are out in Texas stop by and say heya. Kath will be in Little Tokyo on June 7th at Ninja-Con. If you are in the LA area that is a new con and could use some support!

I'll tell you all about the fashion show I was in within the next week, once I find out how it did, and will post pics too. I'll also post pics of the Bridal Jewelry I made for two of the organizers of Ninja-con.

For now I'm off to sleep. I promised a tut way back when. My camera was stolen and I lost all the pics I had for it. I will try to get a new camera soon and get a tut online. Let me know what you want it of.

Thanks for all your support,
Bekah

Pre-Con pics

Before you attempt a con you have to take pictures. Pics of what you made, of where you think you want things to go this next con, etc…

Life was simpler when all I had was a camera with film in it. All I did was point and shoot. I didn’t have to change any lenses or mess with any dials. I had no clue what tungsten verses florescent meant… still really don’t either though, as you will see with my pics.

I think I need a checklist in order to use my camera, a Canon PowerShot SX40 HS (and I have no clue what that means), correctly to get good results. The first thing that needs to be on my checklist after, is the cap off and is the camera on, should be what lighting am I under or using: tungsten or florescent? At least I think that is what that setting means. I know it makes a huge difference.

Watch as my slave bracelet ring looks as if it comes from the fires of hell in these pics.
Oh and did you notice I didn’t even have part of my bracelet in the first pic?

And then I change bracelets, noticed my mistake in photography settings, and … wow, now that’s what a slave bracelet ring is supposed to look like, except it’s blurry…  T.T

Sometimes I can get really good pics of things up close, and sometimes…

really these pics are no good for my books, I can’t even see what it is I’m trying to sell.

Yet, I can also get pretty cool pictures, perfect for pre-con exploits with great detail and still a fun pic.

Somehow though I still end up with pics that make me scratch my head and wonder how I even got something like that…

Back from Saboten

and Transfer of blog

Con Artist... no I really Am      has moved   welcome to our new home

-->

To all who have stuck by me through this transfer, thank you!

On my way back from my latest convention, Saboten!! It’s a fun little con near Phoenix Arizona, reminds me of conventions I went to way back in the beginning:  Panels that actually talk about anime or Japanese culture; Con-goers that are there for more than just to be at a con; Staff willing and helpful; A dealers hall and an artist alley that was absolutely full of fun people; even a Lion dance! Truly a great time! Spent way too much money too!

A shout out and a major thanks goes out to my table monkey!!! First time he was at con helping me, in fact he is transcribing this for me right now. A very helpful guy! *squee* I wanna keep him!!! Alas, I don’t know how long he’ll be here with me. He’s moving soon. *sigh* Isn’t it just the way of it, find a great helper and then they leave.

Because of my great helper I was able to go to three panels. In one I learned how to make a mini top hat, well more than just sewing felt together, which I had done in the past. Isn’t it cute?

So I’m not sure of how many of you are aware that I’ve added dice to my collection.  They are a blast to work with. Tut and pics to follow. A friend got me into working with them and I'm glad he did!

While at Saboten I met two artisit that I would love to work with and had a blast talking with them! One of them does amazing clay sculptures, cute little charms that I’m going to go crazy working with.  Look forward to seeing necklaces and bracelets of Goku in clay! Of Naruto, in clay! Of … yeah, you get the idea. I’m going to have so much fun!  The other lady does lampwork beads so look forward to seeing beautiful lampwork beads added to my projects soon. Sterling with lampwork maybe or some platinum with gold~ish lampwork… who knows.

When I get home I’ll work on transferring this over to a new site… I promise! (FYI: this is the new site. Also posted and forwarded from old site.)

Had a great time at this con, and when I’m back I’ll be getting ready for the next con.  I hope to have the next tut up in a few days.

Thanks all,

Bekah
